Better to go to school as a medical assisting or go for radiology?

Many people considering careers in the medical field often look into radiology tech careers as well as medical assisting jobs and wonder which is better, which is easier to get into, in which one they will make more money out of school as well as in the long run. Today those questions will be answered for you.

Many radiology technician programs do not require you have any previous experience so that is a plus. They do often require you have some prerequisite classes or courses such as anatomy, physiology, and often biology.

Straight out of school a radiology technician is probably going to make more money, somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 per hour. A medical assistant on the other hand may only come out of school making $8-$12 an hour. I often can't believe it when I hear how low the pay is for some medical assisting jobs and I don't think it's fair. They work hard and have a challenging job.

I would recommend radiology technician over medical assisting however if you are interested in medical assisting I would recommend just going into nursing as you will be making 2-3 times the pay as a medical assistant.

I would advise you not to go into medical assisting and instead go into radiology technicial training or at the very least nursing.
