It really doesn't matter whether you have an associates, a bachelors, or a certificate from a program at a hospital, what matters is that you are registered ARRT.
Currrently the market for radiology techs isn't great. Years back you could hold down multiple jobs as well as freelance for doctors. That was back in say 2005. Today however you may have to lower your standards in terms of where you work and pay. The market is a bit saturated, probably because back when there was a shortage everyone rushed into the industry.
Back in 2006 when I graduated I had a job waiting for me and had a endless supply of opportunities to freelance with doctors and clinics.
